DA VINCI´S INVENTIONS

Leonardo da Vinci was one of the most prolific inventors in History, he dreamed up inventions and innovations across a big variety of fields.

Despite of the fact that Da Vinci was a pacificist man, in time of war, he had to designed military inventions, for example: OGIVAL PROJECTILES.

As a result of his studies on how air and water currents affect the way in which objects moved, Leonardo designed a new type of missile projectile. Leonardo´s new projectile had a long pointed shape with directional aps to increase aerodynamics and ensure stability.

Did you know that Da Vinci invented NAPKINS?

The great Da Vinci wrote that at the time, dukes tied up live rabbits soaked in grease and decorated with ribbons to the guest’s chairs so they could wipe their hands on the animal’s back. Da Vinci found this quite inappropriate, and tried to change table habits, presenting a cloth for each guest instead.

Moreover, Leonardo also developed WEBBED GLOVES to improve the movement of man in water. The gloves were made from leather with wooden ribs to resemble the bone struture of web-footed birds. Leonardo as known for his method of taking inspiration from the anatomy of animals and other natural occurrences to solve a particular problem. In the instance, his task was helping swimmers stay afloat and move easily in the water.

We went to our LAB too, while we were experimenting with PULLEYS, we found that the motion of a single pulley reverses the direction and increases the force of traction, thus making lifting a heavy load much easier.
